Our Values Odessa Kennel started as a small kennel with quality as the prime purpose. Since that time we have bred many champion Japanese Chin. Our goals were to breed for head type, conformation, coat and of course health. As everybody knows, it is very difficult to gain those four qualities and we have succeeded in most of them. We are proud of our achievements but we are still not satisfied in the pursuit for the ultimate Chin. Breeding is long and hard work. It takes years to obtain a good foundation breeding program on which you can build and produce dogs of quality. We were fortunate to have American, imports from the Netherlands and Japan, which have helped us to build our Japanese Chin foundation program. We proudly can say that most of our chin have become champions by owner handlers and haven’t required professional handlers to finish their championships. We hope that, with all the Chin we have on our web site, you can see all that Odessa Kennels’ has accomplished. Betty Turner, of Hazelford Kennel, has been a breeder of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels for twenty years. She wanted a smaller dog and the Japanese Chin fulfilled her every wish, so this merger brings with it her knowledge and integrity. She is also a talented artist whose works are highly valued. Her art works have been published in Dog World, Barbara Garnet Wilson’s publications and is an Artist of Record with the Franklin Mint. Her specialty is in porcelain animal portrait miniatures and oil painting. |
